I think what you said made a bunch of sense. However, what about this? what if you were to create a awesome headline? I mean, I don't want to tell you how to run your blog, but suppose you added a title to maybe grab a person's attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is a little boring. You might look at Yahoo's front page and note how they write news headlines to grab viewers to open the links. You might add a video or a pic or two to grab readers interested about what you've written. In my opinion, it might bring your website a little bit more interesting.
